TUPPS Brewery New 4-Acre Facility: Explore Beer and More

TUPPS Brewery New Facility: A Must-Visit Destination

TUPPS brewery has opened its new 4-acre facility in the Heart of McKinney’s Historic Mill District, quickly becoming a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts. The grand opening drew a massive crowd, eager to experience the sprawling new venue after several delays in the construction process. As founder Keith Lewis aptly put it, “The beer was flowing as fast as gravity would have it come out of a tap.” This significant expansion is not just about more space; it’s a celebration of craft beer, community, and innovation.

Exploring the New 4-Acre Facility

The large brewery, covering 4 acres, offers plenty of room for guests to roam. Visitors can enjoy a variety of experiences:

  • The Grain Room Taproom: This building houses the main bar and kitchen, offering indoor seating and large projectors for sports fans.
  • Beer Hall: A covered patio with long tables and a small stage perfect for live music, such as Benton Lawson’s acoustic sets.
  • Outdoor Hangout Spaces: Perfect for sunny days, these areas are ideal for relaxation and socializing.

Hazy IPAs and Other Drinks

Tupps Brewery is famed for its IPAs, and the new facility continues this tradition with intriguing options like the nearly opaque, double dry hopped Color Machine. This Hazy IPA boasts flavors from Galaxy, Cryo Citra, and Mosaic hops, making it a favorite among patrons. Another popular draft is Chilton, a refreshing option from Blur hard seltzer, which tastes like lemonade with a hint of salt.

Unveiling the New Core Beer: Eastside Lager

Joining the impressive lineup is the Eastside lager, TUPPS’ newest core beer. Light at 4.6% ABV, it surprises with a richer flavor profile than one might expect from a lager. This unique brew is a testament to TUPPS’ dedication to crafting distinctive and enjoyable beers.

Revamped Branding

Alongside the move, TUPPS Brewery launched a brand refresh in 2023 with Brethren Design Co. The result is a unified and more eye-catching look for all TUPPS products, making them easily identifiable on the shelves. Founder Keith Lewis remarked, “The goal was to unify the brand, so when you look at all of the TUPPS products on the shelf, they’re easily identifiable.”

Overcoming Challenges

The path to opening the new facility was fraught with challenges. Initially slated for an 11-month build, construction stretched to 26 months due to COVID-19, supply-chain issues, and the complexities of retrofitting 100-year-old buildings for modern brewery needs. Despite these obstacles, the final result is impressive, with everything from buildings to landscape and equipment coming together seamlessly.

Delectable Food Offerings

The new TUPPS Brewery features a full-service kitchen, a significant upgrade from the old brewery, which relied on food trucks. The menu includes irresistible options like house-made salt and vinegar potato chips, truffle garlic waffle fries, and masa-dredged pickle fries. The enticing array of meals ensures there’s something for everyone:

  • Crispy Chicken Sandwich: Brined using Juice Pack and topped with pepper jack cheese.
  • Salmon Fish and Chips: Beer-battered with Backyard Bock, a favorite of founder Keith Lewis.
  • Full Grown Man Bacon Jam Burger: Featuring bacon jam made with TUPPS’ Full Grown Man stout.

More Than Just a Brewery

The facility promises much more than just beer. The TUPPS campus will soon host Lelo’s Coffee Co., offering an additional draw with its caffeinated delights. The coffee shop will be located on the far north side of the property, using Lelo’s coffee in brewing the Full Grown Man Stout. Additionally, the brewery’s mezzanine, which includes a foosball table, couch, and TV, provides a homely, living room vibe for relaxed hangouts.
