New Northern Kentucky Craft Brewery Taproom Opens in Historic Covington Firehouse

Calling all beer enthusiasts! Northern Kentucky craft brewery, West Sixth Brewing, is thrilled to announce the opening of their new taproom in Covington. The new location is set at 100 West Sixth Street, inside the historic Covington Haus, formerly known as Covington Firehouse 1.

The Charm of Covington Taproom

When West Sixth Brewing discovered this space, they were enchanted by the history of the building and the Noll family’s community involvement. To honor this rich history, the new location is aptly named West Sixth Covington Haus. Ben Self, the co-founder, shared, “His family has graciously given their blessing for the use of the name and shared some wonderful stories about the bar’s legacy with us.” This sentiment further solidifies the deep community roots that West Sixth Brewing values.

A Tribute to the Covington Firehouse

Nestled on the top floor of the Covington Haus, the taproom will be accompanied by Second Story. Ludwig Noll, son of Mick Noll, expressed his happiness, stating, “My parents, Mick and Pat Noll, spent a lot of life capital saving it from being demolished in the 70s, turning it into Mick Noll’s Covington Haus. Because of their passion, the Covington Haus lives on so that West Sixth Brewing and the people of the region can continue to spread gemütlichkeit within its walls.” This new life for the Covington Firehouse not only preserves its legacy but also brings fresh energy to the community.

Expanding Northern Kentucky Craft Brewery Reach

With the opening of the Covington taproom, West Sixth Brewing will be closing their box park spot in Newport, relocating the staff to the new, larger location. “This Northern Kentucky expansion has long been a priority for us and we’re really excited to round out our Kentucky reach with this bigger taproom space,” Self stated. The spacious new taproom will feature 20 beers on tap, ample room for families and friends, and later this year, a full restaurant! This expansion is seen as a reinvestment in an area that has always been integral to West Sixth Brewing.
